The M.A.N.O.S Story
Meet our Founder
Founded By Jimmy Castañeda in 2020, M.A.N.O.S. (Mexican American Nurtured Opportunity Services) is a small non-profit based out of Gilroy, California. From humble beginnings, the nonprofit was founded by Jimmy in order to raise money and organize the restoration of a historic downtown mural. From there, the scope of the nonprofit grew to incorporate performing arts and community organizing. M.A.N.O.S. is committed to improving the environment in which Gilroy's youth grow up in. Through organizing opportunities in art, mentorship, community action, and education we preserve Mexican cultural traditions and values for the next generation!
Art & Culture
Pioneered by standing president Jimmy Castaneda, coordinating youth mentorship, pop-ups for small businesses and annual festivals we foster local growth with tangible effects on the face of downtown Gilroy.
Our Folklorico division is led by Maestra Mina Castaneda, she offers classes for children ages 3-17 and adults. Not only do students learn about Mexican culture and traditions, but they also learn about community, being a leader, and building self-confidence.
Community
We stand with underserved communities in Gilroy working and collaborating with like minded nonprofits to organize drives that distribute food, clothing, and toys. If you want to be part of the community action, consider joining us at our next event!
